A nice walk in LA

Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy" is considered to be one of the early examples of trip hop.

While surfing on the web, I came across to the video of the song, which goes back to 1991. During the video Shara Nelson who provides the vocals in the song walks and sings on the street. The video starts at S. New Hampshire Avenue and Shara walks thorough W Pico Blouvard. The video ends when she turns to Dewey Avenue.

I have checked the route that she followed from Google Maps and tried to point out the exact location, stores, buildings etc and I put together the snapshots from Google Maps and the video.

There is Norma's Beauty Salon on the corner of West Pico and Dewey. At the end of the video we can see the sign of the salon when she is turning to Dewey Avenue. I have taken the snapshots from the video and the Google Maps, and it was interesting to see that the Norma's Beauty Salon standing there after almost 20 years. And in the last picture we can see the church on South Berendo Street.

Watching the video and checking the streets from Google Maps was like following her while they were shooting the video.

If I happen to go to LA I will definitely walk through that route, most probably singing the song as far as I can remember.

PS: Massive Attack is from Bristol and one day I will definitely write about that awesome city.
