Elvis of Baghdad

Hip hop is an interesting genre in many ways. Especially the people who make this kind of music have been interesting to me. The hip hop songs that I like tend to have nice, smooth and energetic background music. The reason to say this is the following song that I had discovered today: Mos Def - Auditorium (Feat. Slick Rick)

Towards the end of the song, starting at 3.30 to be exact, there is a tribute to the movie The Battle of Algiers. I have not seen the movie but it is supposed to be about the Algerian War against France, and I could find the part of the movie that is relevant for the song.

In the following video, it starts at 7.53 and basically the guy -who is also the main guy of the movie - is describing the card game, which used to be played on Istanbul streets as well. Actually I had seen people a couple of years ago playing that game on Barcelona streets and it was very funny to see that.

P.S. Referring to an Arab kid, the song ends with the line : "Now the kid considered like an Elvis of Baghdad"
