US Foreign Policy: Overpowered?

Great summary of three related books about the US foreign policy. There is no way I could read those books given the time and priority constraints.

Written by Michael Mandelbaum, published in Foreign Affairs magazine.

Overpowered? | Foreign Affairs

"Powerful countries can and do carry out foreign policies that fail, making them less prosperous, less respected, and, ultimately, less powerful. In each of the books, the prime example of the dangers of power, the equivalent of the lottery winners destroyed by riches, is the United States during the George W. Bush administration. For all three authors, the essence of what Christopher Preble calls "the power problem" is that the United States has too much of it."

The part about Russia and Putin is pretty interesting.

Here comes a great song for those who don't care about foreign policy. Róisín Murphy was the soloist of the band Moloko. You may remember the songs like Sing It Back, Fun for Me and The Time Is Now from Moloko.

A rare cover

Other side of town, cover by Tindersticks

I'm from the other side of town
Out of bounds
To anybody who don't live around
I never learned to share
Or how to care
I never had no teachings
About being fair

Depression is part of my mind
The sun never shines
On the other side of town
The need here is always for more
There's nothing good in store
On the other side of town

It's hard to do right
In this filthy night
Just plain simple comfort
Is completely out of sight
My little sister she hungry
For bread to eat
My brother's hand me down shoes
Are now showing his feet

Ghetto blues showed on the news
All is aware
But what the hell do they care
You across the track
Completely relaxed
You take a warning fact
Don't you never come back

Talk is fine

The name of my blog is purely a tribute to my dear friend pasifauna's blog talk is fine.

If you have any interest in movies, her blog is a must see.

talk is fine: Esasen, deneyim olarak sinemaya gitmeyi seviyorum ...: "Esasen, deneyim olarak sinemaya gitmeyi seviyorum ben. Bilet alma, karanlıkta oturup filmin başlamasını bekleme, etrafında mısır yiyenlere k..."

Abi seviyorsan git konus bence

"Yazmasaydim olecektim" demis ya Sait Faik, ben olmezdim muhtemelen. Yasamaya devam ederdim buna yasamak denirse.

Neyse, Kazim abimiz soylesin biz dinleyelim: Iste Gidiyorum
